You didn't confirm when asked if you could join either dude… If we can't confirm players then we can't plan whether to start or not.

You asked if we were going to go ahead just a few hours ago.

waited for a while before answering since I don't like answering when annoyed.

I was told afterwards that you had modified the game so that it would actually be far more difficult. I do not know how so on asking was informed that Lyrie did not have invisibility as a spell, nor were they supposed to place themselves in that particular area you placed them in so that they would have a better escape route.

1) Lyrie having invisibility to cast on Tsuto (as always correct me if I'm wrong)
2) choosing to have Lyrie be on initiative with Tsuto so she could cast invisibility on him 'immediately' after it fades away. (you claimed this yourself.)
3) placing them in a room that was not in the module (I was only informed of points 1 and 3 here so correct me if I'm wrong and that its actually what is in the module)

I understand the need to modify things in the module, but did you really have to modify a module you yourself claim was already brutal?

These three points make me feel that yes you do change the module, but in this case to ramp up the difficulty in what you yourself claim was an already a pretty brutal one. The natural 20 hardly helped but the module actually set it so that the players would know there is an enemy behind it waiting, in this case Lyrie and whoever else. Then again these actions show you were already set to kill the players. Hope your future roleplays accomodate your power-trips more.

Don't make it sound like it was the module doing this.

Edit: Our team was not minimaxed, but it was far more than enough to handle the module which we were just breezing through till you decided to change things.

Understood - now, lol - Rise of the Runelords is pretty brutal in places though not on a level with the earlier Adventure Paths like Age of Worms. I think the fact that all of my old gaming community - and most DMs on the Paizo boards - assume a fairly high level of min maxing as standard is part of the problem, but rolling a nat 20 on that surprise round attack hardly helped. Ah well, sufficed to say I certainly did not intend to cause any upset, etc. I now realize that some of my comments would have seemed uneccessarily dickish, they weren't meant that way, I enjoy living on the edge in DnD and tend to assume others enjoy the danger and meant them in an enjoyable bantering manner, not a snide hahaha I win way - for the record I consider the party nearly dieing but triumphing to be the most desirable outcome, obviously this is not as common as I had assumed, lol.

It depends on the play style actually…And probably why I actually regret not playing say, a more "minmaxed" Druid so as to ensure the survival and ease of the party. This was probably one of the only campaigns where I didn't bother to create a character that could either sit back, and let the others take the glory…or carry everyone through the campaign when the going got rough. Mind you, I did have fun with the roleplay and everything else, but the recent boss battles made me actually WANT to kill off my character, so I could replace him with something that matched the difficulty better.

The thing is those battles were very stressful… It felt like nearly every fight the only way to survive was to go Nova, with each spell choice and implementation were crucial and had to be supremely tactical. There was no selecting spells for utility or even fun, there was no memorizing comprehend languages because that grease will be needed to save everyone's lives. Not to mention it felt like an arms race.

Very sorry and saddened by how thing have worked out folks. Honestly I had no idea everyone felt that way, I've always enjoyed very difficult battles and think that the ideal scenario is to nearly die, but not die, its something that me and my friends used to talk about for ages a memorable event. Evidently this is not a commonly held view in the group, and equally clearly my sense motive is far lower than I would like.

I am horrified that I have caused people to think about quitting gaming altogether and really hope you will reconsider. I've had a great deal of fun playing with you all and wish you all the best.

Heads up problems with Blackstar - the server disappeared from the list, but the room was still there in limbo! - made us move to OpenRPG Veav 1.

XP: 950 for Tenichi and Javisan, 900 for Veritas, and 500 for Anastasia.

Loot: 1 potion of Speak with Animals, 2 options of Tree Shape, 2 unidentified potions, 1 unidentified wand 1 Magic Cloak, 1 small set of Magic Leather Armor.

Going to play tonight, assuming Lokey shows, and looks like tomorrow is a go to.

Ah, hmmm, thanks for the heads up Jen hope it goes well, sure it will. I'll see what folks want to do, I'm happy either way.

It's not the cold, I was just informed that they are doing a launch party for the new website today and I have been asked to attend (by asked read required. :( )

If you want to go ahead without me please do, if you need the character to play then I give Jai permission to run my toon for the session. I've upped her to lvl 3 as we were told insta level was good, all I need is the roll for HP. And she's now got dual wield.

I should be able to make it tomorrow but will be away from home so I'll have to get a connection from my partner's school. (can't see why I couldn't)

So if you want to skip today and play tomorrow, that is also good.

Sorry for the last minute notice, you know that I don't like it when it's done to me but I don't have a choice this time. :(

More than you know!

If I don't work I don't get paid (companies illness policy is SSP only and only with a docs note) so I have to be REALLY ill to phone in sick.

Stacey plays on a Thursday with us. She's not big on the forum thing though as she's stupidly busy running the IT department for a school.

Oh, and she's also my partner. :)

We're considering running an extra session this week on the Thursday as I won't be running a session this week (Stacey working so won't be there and I've done no prep as I'm I'll.)
